Becoming a Director
At our 2016 AGM on October 20th we are looking to elect some new directors to help take us forward over the next year or more.
We wish to expand the current nine-member Board of Directors to better reflect the community that we are operate in. Therefore, we particularly welcome applications from women and people of colour.
2016 has been an exciting and transformational year for the co-op. It is now a multi-million-pound operation with over 9MW of renewable energy generating capacity in Bristol, South Gloucester and Somerset.
Being a Board member will provide an opportunity to learn about renewable energy and sustainability, and to influence the strategic direction of one of the largest community energy coops in the UK.
Areas that would benefit from additional support include legal and financial experience, preferably at a senior management or board level. You do not need to be an expert in renewable energy, but we do ask that you are supportive of our aims and values of reducing carbon emissions; community ownership and benefit; and cooperation.
This director role is unpaid, however out-of-pocket expenses will be covered.
Director meetings are currently held monthly on a Wednesday evening in central Bristol. Whilst we would expect directors to attend most meetings, attendance can be remote, via skype. You would also be very welcome to become involved in our operational work.
If you feel that this role may be for you, please get in touch with us (firstname.lastname@example.org) or use the form opposite, and we'll arrange a time for you to discuss the role with one of our existing directors.
